There was absolutely nothing found? Not even the slightest?
Okay then, goto Cnet and download CPUZ, GPU-Z, and HWMonitor. Once downloaded, scanned and installed, start all three until the issue arises. These three tools have built in graphs and self-imaging; small camera icons that with a click will record the previous minutes in a jpeg file format.

I've also done some additional research into your i7-2670QM Cpu. Please goto the following site for second generation Intel Core Processors with Intel Hd Graphics 3000/2000 Product Support Information>: Second Generation Intel Core Processors with Intel Hd Graphics 3000/2000 Product Support Information:
-Product Support
-Documents and Guides
-Drivers and Software
Choose Product Support/Automatically Detect and update Drivers and Software. If there is an issue with your Cpu, it will show up during this scan:

Please get back. I will work this through with you.

Hi,
The only update was of the Wireless driver.
Just some questions about the programs you told me to install:
CPU-Z should I save in .txt or .html?
Hardware Monitor saves in .txt?
GPU-Z saves as a jpeg?
Thanks

Hello,
Copy and paste the text.
Also, it could take quite awhile for the pics to clear security. In the meantime, have you run a complete System Scan? If not, goto COMPUTER/System drives, OS (C) and right click, drop down to and click Properties, open up the Tools tab and click Error Checking/Check Now, then check both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, click start. After a few seconds the computer will state that it will do this at the next restart, click Yes and then exit and restart your laptop and let it do the entire scan. This vital scan can take upwards of two hours and cannot- repeat- cannot be interfered with whatsoever, okay? Once the scan is done, your laptop will restart. Get back to me; the pics should be cleared by then.

Hello,
Just do a print screen, save the file and insert the info into the HP POST MESSAGE! It's the little camera icon at the top middle of the HP Post Message box that you are typing in when you're communicating to me.
Oh, and, yeah, very important, I need to know what 'Graphics Card' your laptop has because when you opened up GPU-Z, your laptop was on the Intel HD card.

Hi,
Thanks for th reply. I did the hard disk check overnight. It took about 9 hours. After, it did a restart and the laptop was saying unable to find OS. I tried a restart snd Windows repair came up. I insterted the recovery disks but It was unable to find the HDD. I does not want to start anymore.
I have now taken the Laptop to HP under warranty to check what is wrong. Maybe something with the Hard Disk now. I should have a reply soon and post back with the details. I have also told them about the issue with the CPU. They will check it out.
I hope they will be able to repair it, or maybe give me a new one...I hope that is possible.
Thanks again for your assistance. I will post back when I have more details.
Thanks
Daniel

Hello,
I'm glad that your laptop did this while under warranty! I have heard of the scan taking upto eight/nine hours, my old desktop takes upwards of six/seven, but I have never heard of a Windows System Scan damaging the system or loosing the HD. This is good news, however, it means that the problem is quite obviously a hardware issue. Which we could never have fixed. Now, I want to explain that you shouldn't fear running this Windows System Scan. I run this scan on all of my computers just about every three months. It keeps Windows integrity intact, and you should get into the practice of using it within days of getting your new laptop back.. Yes! New Laptop! If I were you and this was my new laptop with all of these internal issues, and I do have a new DV7, I would really press HP for a new one. This one has something bad going on, 'Lemon!' quite possibly a grounding fault, 'Gremlin!' which is hard to hunt down, even for HP techs, and would explain the cpu spikes.
Sincerely -SSDdrive
