This isn't right. I think it's a hardware issue.And it seems like a bad trial, daniel_ss. Why don't you just get it overwith? Contact HP and let them know that no one can help you and you've tried everything that everyone has suggested @ Hp Support and the laptop is a full-on lemon and that you demand to have a replacement! Get upset and let them know that you are very upset and that it is over! You are tired of it! It is your right, it is under warranty, it doesn't work right, replace it!, No more fixing!, it just comes back broken!, after all you bought what you thought was a very nice a Hp laptop to enjoy, not to suffer over and go crazy because of!  Okay?

Sincerely, and I hardly ever very rarely almost never say, sincerely, SSDdrive!

Just letting you guys know, My friend and I (we both have the same Envy 15) have this exact same issue. I've found that it is reproducible when the laptop is not on a flat surface (ie: not on a desk) making it useless when it's on your lap. It's definitely a trend among these Envy 15s, and I feel as though HP needs to do something to fix the issue.

If the replacement resolves your problem please let me know!

Thanks. Good to know there are more people with this issue. It makes you crazy when it does this. There seems to be no solution. Maybe all the Envy 15's have this issue ?? 

I hope they will replace it and guarantee that the new one will not have the same problem .....

Have you tried Disabling the Cool senese technology... this also happened to me,  i think there is a glitch in the program or accelerometer ... when i swithc it off..everything works just fine... cool sense is still a crappy technology at the moment

I still have one other problems. my wallpaper turns to black and I can click on my desktop icon sometimes.. any of you have similar problems

Had the same problem... disabled CoolSense and now everything seems to be working fine. Thanks mfaradhy!

I have been having the same issue. I purchased an HP Envy 15 3040nr and have had trouble every day since with High CPU utilization that causes all programs and processes to hang.

I have searched all over for a solution. I am currently contacting HP to try to replace it under warranty. 

Here is a link to a video that is the exact same issue I am having. This video demonstrates the high cpu utilization and how it affects system processes and applications. The user in this video has a video with sound playing and then about 30 sec into the video pulls up the performace graphs.

For those of you that have disabled the HP-Cool Sense How long has it been that you have had no issues with the cpu at 100%?
