FAILURE TO RESUME FROM SLEEP MODE

Hi,
This can sometimes be caused by hybrid sleep. To check if this is the case, follow the guide on the link below to disable Hybrid Sleep.
Next, restart the notebook.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter. Restart the PC and see if this has helped.

I have a similar problem, too, with my HP Pavilion dv5 2146la. I can't resume only from sleep mode untill i remove battery. I made suggestions of DavidPK, but nothing. Thanks for the suggestions.

I have the same problem. I have a brand new DV5-2155dx that won't resume from sleep mode. I've tried the suggestions here. And there's also an Essential System Update that's supposed to fix the problem, but it didn't. I've just disabled Sleep Mode for now, but it's very annoying.

I contacted HP and they couldn't figure it out either. Wanted me to do an OS restore, but the problem started as soon as I took it home. Still don't have a solution to this.
