Freezing up while playing a game

so i recently i got this problem and i i dont know how to fix it. My problem is that when im playing a game such as call of duty, vindictus and heroes of newerth it'll work fine for a few minutes then the screen like flickers once and then the whole computer would freeze and nothing responds. So then i have to force shutdown by holding the power button and after i do that the computer wont start. It takes about 5-10 tries maybe to start, whenever it tries to turn on the number lock key light and caps lock key light both blinks 2 times before it turns off. I have a Hp Pavilion dv7-31069us is it possible to fix this?
