Frozen restart after file transfer

So I'm transferring my files from an old computer. Once the lengthy transfer is done, I have to restart. I restart and it says installing updates 32 of 72. It's been like that for at least 12 hours. I try control-alt-delete, start button and even shut it down but it's still on the same screen. I don't know what to do! It's a Pavilion dv4- 1160us notebook if that helps.

Hi,

 

This sounds like a lot of Windows Updates are trying to be applied.  Is this a brand new notebook?
