G71-340US Internet Explorer has stopped working

I am a gamer and enjoy games on a couple of different websites. I play Fishville on Yahoo and different kinds of games on games.com. I have been getting errors that stop the games & I don't know if it is a malfunction of my computer or something else. Mainly the error is coming from Fishville. The error message is:

Internet Explorer has stopped working (and closes page)

A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.

Windows Data Execution Prevention detected an add-on trying to use system memory incorrectly. This can be caused by a malfunction or a malicious add-on.

I can't understand why everyone else I know has no problems with this site except me. All of my friends have HP products. I got an email from HP wanting me to take a survey because they noted that my computer shuts down a lot. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or have information about this type of problem. I really don't want to give up the game unless I am doing serious damage to my computer or am compromising my security.

Re: G71-340US Internet Explorer has stopped working

Hi,

First, reset Internet Explorer as follows - be aware that this will remove Bookmarks, Add-ons and Saved Passwords etc.

Open windows Control Panel, open Internet Options, click the Advanced tab and then click the Reset button.  Click 'Yes' or 'Ok' to any further prompts required to complete the process.

Next, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Desktop.

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

When the download has completed, close all browser windows and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook.

Next, download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.

Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer.

Launch Firefox and see if your games play Ok in this browser - if they do, close Firefox, open IE ( See Note Below ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.

Note:  If you have a 64bit installation, make sure you open Internet Explorer and not Internet Explorer64 ) and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart IE.

If you want to use Internet Explorer 64, install Adobe Flash for this browser using the link below.

"A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage."

1) Stop playing games, get off the internet.

2) Go to a Malware removal forum (safernetworking, mbam, avast, your av program).

3) Get your PC cleaned up.

4) Fix IE (bookmark this post)

5) Stop using IE, use Firefox 7.1 IMHO.

6) Only go on the internet as a USER ACCOUNT, never an Administrator Account!
