G72 Locked, Black screen would not shut off, could not force off. removed pwr now it wont start. [ Edited ]

Ive seen problems similar to this but not exactly. About a month ago while I was using it the G72 went black and appeared to still be working except for the screen being black. I attempted to hard shut it off and it would not shut off. So, I removed the power supply and the battery. I then reconnected the power supply and it worked fine. Until Today. Today it did the same thing, except when I went to turn it back on it turned on, and I went to the hp diagnostics screen, but before I could do anything it went black again. after removing the power this time, it will not power on. the light by the power supply connection comes on, but everything else is dead.

Do you have access to a monitor that you can plug this laptop into?  That way you can try to boot with the lid closed (if that is possible with this model) to see if any error messages appear.

Yes, I can hook it up to another monitor, do I need to use something to try and boot it up with the screen closed?

Some systems have a power key on the outside, so it's a bit cleaner, by I see online yours does not.  Hook it up to a VGA monitor, hit the power button and close the lid.   If there is anything being displayed on the screen, then you'll know you have a screen issue, otherwise it's likely a motherboard failure.  Laptops have the display chips embedded on motherboard, so you don't have many options.  If this was a problem with a memory chip or drive, you would at least get something on the screen.  I hope this helps.

I went to try your suggestions and the computer starte to boot up fine, so I went into hp diagnostics and the tests showed that everything was fine. I went ahead and booted it up, and used the hp support assistant to check for updates/issues and it says everything is good. 

I guess I will just  keep an eye on things to see if there is a pattern to this.

I had the same problem but it has fixed by himself..
