HP 2000-361NR laptop, Blank Screen, Blinking Power (White) & Wireless (Amber) Light

I have a HP 2000-361NR laptop.

It will not start up with Blank Screen, Blinking both Power (White) & Wireless (Amber) Lights every 3 seconds.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Try a hard reset. Remove the battery, unplug the AC adapter power cord, then press the power button in and hold for ten seconds. connect ALL power and try to turn on.

you can try Safe Mode. tap the F8 key during boot up. if that works there are startup repair, restore or recovery options. if not see if it can boot to F2 diagnostics and run some hardware test

Same result. Any other suggestions?

Any other means to reprogramm the BIOS?

What is the Motherboard model number or any compatible models?

@Sean998,

Try accessing the BIOS by tapping F10 on the startup, if you are able to access the BIOS across the top toggle over to diagnostic and run the test that it shows available. If you are able to run the tests, please have the AC adapter plugged in during the testing.

The F10 key on the startup is very time sensitive so you may have to try a couple times before ruling out that F10 doesn’t work.

If all tests pass press F9 to load defaults and then F10 to save and exit.

No luck. Still blinking Power (Both Top & Side) & Wireless Light in the same time only. No beeping, no LCD at all.

@ Sean998,

I know you have already done the hard reset, I would like you to do that again and then when you turn the computer back on tap the Escape key to see if you able to access the startup menu. It will be on an all black seen with a series of options.

Hello Sean998,

You’re not able to boot your computer.

Here is a link to a document that explains the error that you are getting from the flashing lights.

If it was the BIOS that messed up during an update, here is a link that will walk you through the steps to roll the BIOS back to a working version.

Let me know how everything goes.
