Hello DP-K
So far so good, I have found it to be the Quick Play Task Sheduler. Quick play on this laptop is in 2 parts. There is a Quick Play Manager & this Quick Play Task Sheduler.
Quick play is a little like another version of Windows Media centre where you have access to things like DVD playback, music etc.
I am just checking to see if there is a patch for this newer than version 3.7 which is currently installed. I have also noticed the Laptop has a top row under the screen for Quick play hot buttons like Audio, Media play, pause, back & forward etc.
My next option would be to leave the Quick Play Task Sheduler service unchecked dissabled ? if I do this I wonder what other function it might turn off? hopefully not the keyboard shortcut buttons.
Will be back to to let you know if I can find a updated version of this Quick Play for Vista 64 bit.
Cheers
Steven.

Hi Steven,
It shouldn't effect the function of the buttons on the capacitive strip if you disable Quick Player Task Scheduler - however another option may be to set the service to start manually rather than automatically when Windows starts. To do this, first re-enable the service from the msconfig services tab, apply the change and then restart the notebook.
When windows has fully reloaded ( it will probably be slow again ), open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Find the entry for Quick Player Task Scheduler, right click it and select Properties. In the dropdown box next to Start up type, select Manual, then click Apply and Ok to save the change. Restart the notebook for the change to be applied and see if the time it takes to get a usable Desktop is still good - if it is, then I would leave the QPTS service set as Manual.
Regards,
DP-K

Hello David
You Star !!!
Thank you so much for all your help and excellent navigation support to resolve this problem for me. Another knowledge for me learning how to fault find and how to source the problem I was struggling to fix.
One thing I know which is difficult is giving people instruction as usually people miss steps out and this causes problem but your support for this was outstanding I have never had the accuracy from anyone else like this.
Sorry getting carried away, Yes it worked ! by going into the Amin - Svcs - QTS and changing to Manual !
I have not used this forum for many years, but I think I will be reading more and learning more.
I have 2 quick questions to ask:
Q.1 If I have this issue again with 7 & 8 platforms do you think this would work the same to resolve like
Vista ?
Q.2 I have no Microsoft Certifications, I am just a sole trader by myself and learning all the time. I want to
develop my skills starting from the bottom moving up the ladder though not jumping to too higher heights
too soon. I am a registered Microsoft Partner. Problem I see for Sole Microsoft Partners is Microsoft
certs all seem to based around Networking and servers, this us useless to me as my customers are all
Residential. So have you any pointers how or what I could do to gain more in my knowledge
and Microsoft Certification/s ?
Again I thank you loads for the support and help, I have some ideas but not enough like you have taught me.
Thank You !
Best Regards
Steven

Hi Steven,
You're more than welcome and it's good to hear that the problem is sorted out ![]()
Regarding the QTS Service, QuickPlay was replaced after Vista with HP MediaSmart and in later Windows 7 Models by customized versions of Cyberlinks PowerDVD 10 and YouCam - if you check under the section 'Software - Multimedia' for your particular notebook running Windows 7 you can see the new options available.
dv7-1020ea Windows 7 Software & Drivers.
and for later Models, under the same sub-heading.
g7t-1100 CTO Windows 7 Software & Drivers.
Regarding certifications, it's always worth checking out what your local college etc may have to offer as they often have more relevant courses/qualifications and are usually quite flexible with fitting around your existing work commitments.
Also, as you mention yourself, forums are a great place to pick up and share knowledge.
If I can help with anything else, just let me know.
All the best,
DP-K

Hello David
Thank You once again !
Its been a real pleasure & honour working with you !
Also Thank You for the info re the QTS & Cyberlink and HP Link to the CTO 7 drivers. Will look into the course options.
As you probably know from experience this job eats your hours away not giving much time for other things so yes a course which is self paced would suit me find, I will shop around.
Thank you again and I will no doubt see you around in the forum and read your postings when time permits, and cheers for sticking it out with me.
Best Regards & Thanks !
Steven
