HP ENVY 14 BEATS BY DRE AUDIO LAPTOP WILL NOT START

Ok, so my HP Envy 14 laptop has not been able to start since last thursday ( January 19, 2012), and I am not sure what to do.  What happens is I press the power button, and it partially starts up, as you can see the HP logo.  After a few seconds, the screen will go completely black EXCEPT for a small white underscore that is flashing in the top left corner of the screen.  If I press CTRL+ALT+DELETE while in that screen, it takes me back to the usual HP logo beginning startup screen, and if I press ESC from there, it gives me the startup menu, which looks like this:

I have most of the options in this menu, and nothing will make my laptop startup.  I have tried running all of the tests in System Diagnostics to no avail, I have also tried taking the battery out for the night to see if it helped, but nothing happened.  Every other option seems to be of no help.  My brother uses this laptop to edit videos, and it ends up staying on all night in the charger a lot, I do not know if this has anything to do with it.  Does anybody have a clue what is wrong with my laptop, and if so, does anyone know a solution?  I have tried to be as specific as possible, and if there are any more questions about specifics, you can reply and I will most likely be able to answer them, but does anyone have a solution to this problem? My hp envy is doing the exact same thing. It gets to the starting screen with the Windows logo showing, but won't start. I got it to start over the weekend and it asked me if I wanted to do a system restore to correct a problem and I allowed it, yet it did not help the problem at all. it started and immediately shut down again and now won't let  me past the windows logo. did you ever get anything figured out about yours?
