HP Folio 13-2000 USB Port Issues

Hi

I have just build 2 of the Hp Folio's

1st build was straight from the box 64 bit OS and i plugged a Next G card into the left USB port and the machine blue screens while trying to install. However the port on the right hand side works fine and the device will install correctly.

2nd Build was a 32bit OS and the exact same symtoms occur

any help on this one would be greatly apreciated

Hi,

Could be USB 2 and USB 3 related problem. The Next G card may not support USB 3 at all (USB 3 port is on the left).

Hope this makes sense.

There is a new Fresco USB 3.0 driver which will be released soon to fix this issue.

The following release fixes the issue on the Folio13 when using the Telstra/Sierra Wireless 3G/4G USB dongles on the USB 3.0 port (left side) causes the system to crash.  Please uninstall the earlier version, reboot and then install the new driver.

Getting the same problem with a USB3 hard drive. Works fine in another HP laptop but blue screens when doing a backup on the USB2 port and comes up with Format disk continuously on the USB3 port. Have downloaded all of the patches and BIOS which didn't solve the problem and took me till past 11:15 last night so canned it and went to bed.. Will try some more tonight.

This is a known issue with some HP Folio Notebook PC and it is confirmed by our engineering team. The USB board needs to be replaced.

Please reply to us with the following information and we will initiate the repair process.
