Hi everyone,
my HP G62-208CA laptop shuts down after 5 seconds it was powered up. This problem happened after the BIOS was updated automatically. Now, I tried to remove the BIOS battery so that hopefully it could load the default BIOS from the factory. However, I followed the manual instruction to remove the battery, but I couldn't find it. This is the link where I got the manual. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?
How can I fix this problem? Thank you for any help.

Is your notebook still in warranty?

Would you mind explaining how the BIOS could automatically update itself?
I will ask my HP contacts about this. Please give it a couple of days. If you do not hear from me or them, then send me a PM referencing this thread.

You're on the right track by pulling the BIOS battery. If that don't work, I'm not sure if the crisis recovery process will work as the system keeps rebooting itself. If all else fails, you can send it to HP or contact a 3rd party repair place like aqstech.com
Also, you can replace the motherboard.

Thank you very much Erico. Actually, this is my brother girlfriend's laptop. I couldn't tell you the exact situation on the day that happened. My brother told me that the laptop updated the BIOS by itself and then restarted. After that restart, the laptop couldn't run passing the message "press ESC to enter setup" (something like that).
