HP Laptop Pavillion Error

Hello,

I own a HP Pavillion dv6500 Notebook (Laptop). A couple months after I bought it from my friend, I came home from a campout with some of my friends and when I came on and turned on my laptop to check my emails and everything I started normally with the HP load up screen and then it turned to a black screen.

It said:

Err1 Err3

And when you click a key it will say

Operating System Not Found...

Please Help!

Hello,

Okay, what it is telling you is that the hard drive isn't being detected by the bios, so what you need to do first is to disconnect the battery and unplug it and disconnect anything else like usb devices, okay? Next, press and hold the power button for about a minute--30 seconds should clear residual charges but I like to make sure because this will only work once, plug it back in, but not the battery, and attempt to start. Let me know, because if this doesn't work the next step is to remove the back, disconnect the hard drive and then reconnect the hard drive, okay? Making sure that it is reseated properly.

You have to get into the bios by pressing the power button 'On' while also repeatedly tapping away at the f10 key, okay  Do this now. Once in the bios you can open the advanced window, where the hard drive can be tested for failure. Here is a link explaining the Bios Setup Utility:
