HP MINI 110 NETBOOK WON'T START

I bought this around 12/2009 on sale at Radio Shack. Just a couple of weeks ago it stopped turning on. I try to turn it on but the wireless  button will light up 'amber' and the monitor flickers on the first attempt but remains black (after the first attempt, subsequent attempts don't make the monitor flicker, it just remains black)---no fans turning on, no hard drive noise, nothing. Once I attempt a startup, the only way to turn it off is by removing the power supply; I've tried sliding the power switch to turn it off but it won't do anything. I've tried the hard reboot of removing the battery, disconnecting the power cable, holding the power switch for 15-30 seconds, reconnect the power cable and try to start it---nothing. I've even connected it to an external monitor---nothing. I'm at a loss here. What else can it be?
