HP Pavilion dv6000 Will not power on

I have a HP Pavilion dv6405us that will not power on.

With the laptop plugged in and the battery in the laptop I press the power button and almost instantaneously the laptop powers off.

Lights illuminate on the keyboard such as the volume and media buttons, caps lock, power light, hdd light and so on all illuminate. But then immediately powers off. Nothing appears on the screen either.

What's the deal?

Having the same problem with my laptop. Talked to a few friends and they think the motherboard or hard drive is bad. I think I will be bringing mine in to get looked at.

Maybe the motherboard but not the harddrive.

Trying to get the pos to post I pulled out the hd and still nothing.

Also got the exact same problem. Defo not the Hard disc as the the boot sequence isn't even allowed to initiate. Have heard  A-LOT about motherboard problems with the Pavilion series and reckon that is the problem... Has any-one taken theirs to a repairer and had this confirmed - and a price for repair? Thinking it may be money better invested in just getting a new NON-HP replacement...
