HP Pavillion dv6910us Wont boot

Hp pavillion dv6910us will not boot. Power, quickplay bar, touchpad, and dvd lights turn on only then immediatly shuts down no beep codes or fan sounds are heard. Tried hard reset also already and no luck.

Any help much appreciated.

Hi @jaimet1, @Sinister , @stevestock1 , @Kscarlisle , @Abdullah_Ali ,

Thank you all for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion Notebook and startup issues.  If you have replaced the Motherboard and it is still happening - it is not the Graphics as the graphics are attached to the Motherboard. Here is a link to computer will not start.  I would start at the top and work my way down.

Mine was fixed with reseating the HDD. Others have had it fixed with just reseating the Memory. Here is a video that shows you how to remove and reseat the HDD and memory.

Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.

You could reset the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. Which has helped others as it restores the default settings.

I hope something here helps any one of you fix the Notebook.

Thanks.

I have the same problem my laptop will not boot either. When you press the power button everything lights up for just a few seconds and you can here the cpu fan start but then turns off. I have replaced the mother board, power jack, display cable, memory, cpu, display power inverter, power board and power cables. I have almost  completely rebuilt this laptop and nothing has helped if anybody has an answer I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: HP Pavillion dv6910us Wont boot

yes it turns on but only long enough for the lights on the power bar to turn on and the cpu fan to start and then shuts down and then keeps powering on and off untill I stop it. It never powers on the the screen.

Re: HP Pavillion dv6910us Wont boot

i think, u might have a bad video chip, as it has been spotted in so many laptops

i fixed a few myself, with some ramdom issues

i have currently one lying in my home, i have to fix the chip

the indications are
all lights on the sensor, volume meter, and wifi etc are on

the fan makes noise , so its running

the keyboard and Optical drive running

BUT, no display what so ever

and after 1 minute or so

the CAPSLOCK and SCRL LOCK blinks 4 times, and then stop and Blinks again, 4 times

so it means its a BAD Video Chip

i have to fix it

and you have to Fix that too...

good luck

Did you ever get this sorted out? It seems to me some people on here are not reading the symptons described by yourself, and the same on my laptop, and telling us what the issue is for different symptoms.

Re: HP Pavillion dv6910us Wont boot

Thanks for your responce to my question but I have replaced the mother board already with a brand new one and not a recondition. so it must not be the video chip unless my new board is bad. If you have any other solutions I would try them.

Thanks

Re: HP Pavillion dv6910us Wont boot

i have the same problem, but with my laptop, i can only hear the fan and see the lights turned on. The screen not even turns on, nothing shows. After a while I hear the fan work fast then it just slows down, then again works fast after a while then goes back doen. I left it for hours to see if something shows on the screen but nothing.
