I just bought my first webcam( HP webcam 3100) and I'm trying to get on and record a video. I can open the HP Webcam Control Center, but when I choose the record video option it brings up a shell of the next screen and the hourglass just appears endlessly. When I go to the Windows task manager and attempt to end both the applications and the processes(I chose to end process tree) nothing happens for about 20 minutes, literally, I timed it. Eventually the window closes and the Windows error reporting system asks to send an error with no explanation of the event. Anyone? Is this even the right board?

You need to go to the folder where the application is found (usaully in your c
rogramfiles(x86)/ArcSoft/HPWeb../) and right click the application icon and select properties. Select the compatibility tab and select the compability Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Its a compability issue with the application and your Operating System. You just need to change the compability to Windows XP Service Pack 2. I had the same problem and this helped. Hope this helps anyone that just bought this webcam and runs into this problem using a new version of Windows.
