Hello, recently bought a DV7-4007eo from a second hand. So i dont know the exact age of this machine.
ok, the problem is that it has some strange freezes. For example there is opera and VLC is running. Suddenly VLC video stops playing, opera hangs. But i can use the mouse. i can bring up skype, my computer watever. Seems like only VLC and opera froze. I can even move the VLC pointer that controlls the video, but video vont play. It takes about a minute then it unfreezes and comes back to normal. Anyone had that prob ?
System:
video cards:
AMD M880G Radeon HD 4250 ;
High performance : Radeon HD 5650
AMD turion dual-core 2.3Ghz
4gb RAM
Windows 7 32bit.
Waiting for a reply.

Hi,
I'd suggest running some general diagnostics on the machine as follows.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.
If both the above tests pass, try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'. In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties. Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'. In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start. Agree to schedule the check at the next system restart and then restart the notebook - this process can take several hours to complete before loading back into Windows.
Regards,
DP-K

Hi,
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu - if you have an f2 option for extended diagnostics, choose this and run a full set of diagnostics, particularly video chip(s) test.

When i press esc and select f2 (system diagnostics) there are 5 options there:
1. System info
2. Start-up test
3. Run-in test
4. Hard disc test
5. Error log.
There is nothing about graphics card.
Ran al those tests and everyone passed.

Hi,
As your notebook has switchable graphics, do you get the same issue on both GPUs or just one in particular.

Same problem with both. (to test that: I disable 1 card in device manager, then the other one - do i do it right ?) I reinstalled os couple weeks ago. Thought that will solve the problem, but it didn't. Hraphic drivers are from HP site too.
