I have a HP Mini 311-1100 using Windows 7 Home Premium. All of a sudden the keyboard quit working. I did not install any new hardware or software. The computer functions fine otherwise, and I can navigate with a mouse, but just can't type anything. The ONLY keys I have found to work are ESC upon startup, then the TAB works, but I get no response from Enter or any other keys (ie when it says to start Windows normally, etc, "press enter")
I tried a system restore but that did not work.
There must be a simple solution to this, what is it?
Please remember with any suggestions you give, I cannot type in anything. I can only navigate by mouse.
I will bake cookies for someone who can help!

Hi
1) Disconnect the Power & Battery hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then reconnect only the Ac Adater and turn on the unit and check.
2) Start -> Control Panel-> Hardware & Sound -> Click on Device Manager then Click on + symbol next to Keyboard whatever 101 standard one you find Uninstall it. Then restart and check if this does not work.
3) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories-> Command Prompt check if it the Keyboard is working fine if this also does not work then you might have to run Recovery.
4) If all these does not Fix your issue you need to replace the keyboard Check for your warrenty status with HP.
Let us know how it goes!

Hi,
I am having a problem with your instruction #2.
When I get into Device Manager and open Keyboard, I get two keyboard options:
-- HID keyboard device
-- Standard PS/2 keyboard.
You said to delete the "101 standard one" which I assume is the Standard PS/2. I can delete it, but then when I restart the computer, I get a message saying Standard PS/2 has been successfully installed. It shows right back up in Device Manager along with the HID Device. Am I deleting the wrong keyboard? If not, how do I delete it so it stays deleted?
When I follow instruction 3, I cannot type anything after my prompt.
I hope you can help!

Hi
Fisrt is the keyboard working fine or else delete both of them then restart the unit and check.
-- HID keyboard device
-- Standard PS/2 keyboard.
