@chocolatethunde
Your problem sounds like a bad hdd ,which can be replaced easily . You will need a Recovery Disk set to reinstall your OS, hope you made one. You can also order from HP if needed.
If you need more help choosing a hdd,etc please post you full model number or P/N. Locating Model Number

Add me
dv41028-us
Had the mobo replaced by hp once before, but only after resending my laptop in after they had sent it back claiming that no problems were found. Now experiencing blank screen and no startup. Very unsatisfied, very disappointed in HP.

Fortunately, I haven't had the need for the service but the guy has a 99.8% positive feedback rating. You can read the reviews written by people who have used the service HERE .He also offers a 90 day warranty on the repair.
Just to be clear, I have nothing at stake with this tech service nor do I know him.I have corresponded via email with him about the service he offers to see if he is prompt with communications since I have started offering the link as an alternative to consider.

Pleas add myself.
I have a Pavillon dv6 1308sl. After few minuted of use it abruptly froze displaying black screen. the power stays on for few minutes an then it shuts down. When reobooting it displays an arror concerning overheating.
The laptop was covered by warranty, but they sayed they couldn't find anything wrong with my laptop.
It is crazy.
Completely crazy.
I cannot use it.
I can just say anyone I know. Do not by HP pavillon!

Laptop Fixed!!
Installed a refurbished motherboard that had the reflow process already done and DV6110US is working.
Now my only problem is that stupid HP program Quickplay boots up before Windows XP, but that needs its only post.
I think the $69 deal is worth it in my opinion.

Add me to the list. 7 days out of warranty and my dv7-1448dx won't even turn on. HP won't speak to me unless I buy a $139.00 extended warranty that only covers software issues. I'm sure this is a hardware problem, even though I am completely computer tech illiterate. This might finally be my PC vs. Mac breaking point...
