I'm a new college student and i got my HP Envy 17 about two months ago. It has been freezing completely about once a day or once every other day. I'm terrified to do a hard reboot, but that is the only way I can get the computer to respond at all. I do play games on the computer, and I LOVE the clarity of the screen and pretty much everything else about the computer, it's just the constant freezes!

It freezes up completely when I play something like Pandora.com on it - but this only happens sometimes, It freezes when downloading a large file, it freezes sometimes when I just open a new tab in ANY browser. When it freezes NOTHING WORKS. Ctrl+alt+delete/escape don't work. The mouse or pad don't work, and the computer stops responding. The only thing I can do is to do a hard reboot. 
Before you ask:
1)I have constantly run the scans and problem identifiers that are on the computer and everything checks out fine.
2)I don't have any viruses.
3)My computer games are not incorrectly coded or faulty; my best friend has another HP computer and the games work flawlessly for her- that and I've never had a freeze happen when I am playing. The freezes only seem to happen when I'm just put-putting around the internet. Nothing heavy happening. Also: Whenever something downloads it freezes up completely and I have to do a hard reboot.
And I have been looking at the other boards, and nothing is something that I think would help.
