Hello :0)

My name is Jon.. I just got out of hospital after an operation, so I had not used my laptop for about a week.

It had been working perfect, but I was using it when the screen went blue with some writing on (which I didn't have time to see), and then the screen went dark. It will not restart

I tried a hard reset and that did not work.

I have tried searching on here for an answer, and tried certain things to fix the problem, but the EFI page hung on me.

If I turn the machine on the fan usually starts and stops, I have a blue light on the power on button, and the wireless internet light is showing orange while the fan is on, but not when the fan stops. It keeps like this for a while then the fan and lights stay on, but no screen shows..

If I leave the laptop switched off for quite a few hours the machine will sometimes start with a constant fan and I get to a recovery page, but this never works.

After looking for more answers on here, I tried accessing the Extensible Firmware Interface and I was able to do some tests. It failed the Startup test and the Memory test, but it passed the Hard Drive test.

I then tried to Reset the BIOS to default condition but as I went to save and exit, it just hung on me and I had to turn it all off in the end..

Please can anyone help me..? This old XP lappy I am typing this on is sooo slow..

I have been trying to get on again today, but I either get the fan and lights starting and stopping constantly, or the fan and lights come on, but no screen

Managed to get a screen today (f10) but it hung on me again..

It seems nobody can help me on here either, judging by the lack of responces..

Laptop has gone in the bin and I am off to buy me a Dell. I hear they have good after sales customer support.
