HP Pavilion dm1-4100eo, Win7 (64bit). Bought April 2012, One year warranty.
This error (Keyboard & Touchpad freezes simultaneously) seems to be a dm1 product-specific defect. Numerous dm1 owners report this faulting behaviour.
I have sent the requested log-file to OCATeam@hp.com - No response!
I have contacted HP Support center - Case dismissed!
I have contacted CONSUMERPC_NOTEBOOK_SV@MAIL.SUPPOR <CONSUMERPC_NOTEBOOK_SV@MAIL.SUPPORT.HP.COM
and M&N Notification" emn@hp.com - Answered once "Reinstall Synaptics Touchpad" via spxxxxx.exe - which all of us, with this problem, knows is of no use. Replying to this message results in - No answer!
Where are you supposed to direct your warranty issues?
Why don't HP Tech Support make an effort to solve this Extremely Common Pavilion dm1 Error?

Was there a reason for the case dismissed? Have you tried calling them and talking to them direct?

Have you tried to go directly to Synaptics' web site and download their driver for the Touchpad? If not, try to completely uninstall the hp touchpad drivers, reboot the machine and install Synaptics' driver.

I have uninstalled/installed Synaptics several times - also using Revo Unonstaller to get a total wipe-out and, no remedy.
I can quick-fix the keyboard/touchpad freeze by clicking the ClickPad Enable/Disable buttons (Synaptics, Mouse Settings - tab TouchPad Settings).
This might suggest that completely flushing out all HP, MS and Synaptics drivers and, making a clean install could fix the problem.
Where do You find a list of these drivers?

They should be listed in the control panel under add/remove software.

Control Panel, Revo and CCleaner and such do only show Synaptics TouchPad.
If You uninstall Synaptics TouchPad You're still able to use the touchpad, thru some Win and/or HP drivers - what are they?

I thought they were just part of the operating system and should install as if you plugged in an external mouse.

I guess You're right but, it would be worth the try to track these drivers and reinstall them.
Just uninstalling Synaptics doesn't solve the problem.
Btw, it's unbelievable that HP and Synaptics haven't solved this issue long ago - I can find postings about keyboard and touchpad lockups from 2009!

From Win System Information You can find this driver involved
Standard PS/2 Port Keyboard & Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad:
C:\windows\system32\drivers\i8042prt.sys
Any alternative driver one can try?
