Was the "battery" in the test programme green!!!! if after the test it says 3 hrs, that means you have 3 hours battery life if only using battery power. The only result you can get is:- At the bottom left corner of the battery check page Click on settings click on advanced click apply then ok, this will give details of your battery, hope this helps

Your battery must be ok then! Any more problems, let me know. Oh one more thing, when you stop using the laptop put in sleep mode and unplug power supply and then see what happens!![]()

I put the laptop in sleep mode then I unplug power supply. When I come back and with unplug the power supply, I can't start the laptop with the battery only. I have to take the battery out and put it back then I can start the laptop with the battery only.
After I start the laptop with the battery only and plugin power supply, it charges the battery about two minute and the battery power up from 40% to 42%, then the battery red light blinking again.
It seems that the laptop doesn't recognize the battery when I plugin the power supply. This is Dell laptop and the battery is not Dell battery and AC adapter also is not Dell, is that a problem?
Thanks so much DP-K

I dont know what make of battery you are using, I know you can get compatible batteries, BUT, I would get an original Dell battery that is right for your laptop, an inferior battery could also do damage to your laptop, Go online and try and source the correct battery for your laptop, I would never trust a non compatible battery,
By the way, Which country are u in!!!
The adaptor is configured to supply the correct power to the battery, some batteries need a higher voltage adaptor than others, the must marry each other

I live in Texas USA.
Hello DP-K, I try something and it works now!!!
Let me tell you what I am doing:
I put the laptop on sleep mode. I unplug the power supply. I go eat lunch.
I take the battery out and put it back. I plugin power supply. I start the laptop. The system asks me: "The windows did not shut down successful.......... and it gives me options to start the laptop:
Safe Mode
Start windows normally
I don't select any option, because if I select an option then the windows start and the battery red light blinking. I keep move cursor up and down between "Safe Mode" and "Start windows normally". I act like I am selecting, but I didn't for about 10 minutes. During that time the battery light is geen and charging. I stop moving the cursor up and down and let the laptop sits for 10 more minutes, then I select the option "Start windows normall" and enter.
It works and my laptop battery power is up from 45% to 100% available! Don't ask me why! If you know why please tell me. I am happy for now.
By the way, I think about buying a new laptop. I write my blog everyday and using music video alot, would you please recommend me a HP laptop.
Anyway, I thank you so much for your times. Thanks DP-K.

How can you run the test utility if the laptop won't start?
My situation is similar. When I press the power button, i get one of two results. Either the power button light and the amber wireless light light up for about 5 seconds and then quit for another 5 seconds, and then repeats; or, both of those lights do stay on, but never a hard drive activity light or post screen.
I have performed the hard reset, removed memory, cd drive, and the hdd. Nothing changed. In fact, I would expect to hear some error when there was no memory in the laptop, but there was no such error present.
I did manage to see it start first thing this morning, after leaving it to sit overnight with the charger plugged in and the battery installed. Once I got it to boot, I ran a few tests and searched for hp updates and installed them. I also unplugged the ac adapter during this time to let it tax the battery some. I let it run until the battery was down to 77% and then performed a warm boot. That brings us back to the original issue again (one of the two situations described above).
I saw a similar issue on an Acer laptop once, and there was a certain key sequence to hold during powering on to reset the bios and unlock the laptop. Is there a similar combination for this HP laptop? Do you have any suggestions to help me further diagnose this machine?
Please advise.
Thanks.
Chuck
