Re: Laptop very slow in video/games

Not solved yet :-)

Still wanna tweak the computer, what do you think?

or shall i just leave it like this if gaming works?

Well, will try later today for a session and let you know.

If the temperature stays under 90 i guess i dont need to start tweaking :-)

thanks

Hello,

And, 'Hey,' I don't mind helping to tweak the card! If I did, I wouldn't be here!

Re: Laptop very slow in video/games

Alright, back in action for some tweaking.

Tried playing AOE-online for a little longer. 45 Minutes. The temperature stays around 96C and the game will slow down a little bit... still im able to play for short sessions, letting the laptop cool down. In normal modus, like firefox, some music etc. i will have 75C. I think its still a little high, while playing?! Watching a movie will bring it up to 85C :-)

Than, i installed ASC and did the settings you told me.

Pressed Scan Now, and still scanning, will let you know what came out there.

So what exactly is it? Just a little tweak deleting unused files, making the latop a little faster (hopefully)?

Any other tweaks you got for me, making the performance higher, while slowing down the GPU, so it will not get as hot?

thanks

Hello,

Been a while! First off, you don't want to slow down the GPU, if anything you want to make it go faster but at the same time work easier. We want to streamline the C/GPUs and in doing so hopefully also lower their temps. Do you understand? If the CPU and GPU have less to do then they can focus more on the gaming. So what we want to do is start closing nonessential background programs so that both C/GPUs can single the gaming out! Okay? And ASC has active boost and a better game booster--It's chalkful of tweakings.Look in the TOOLBOX

 Gonna give up until tomorrow!

Get back!

Re: Laptop very slow in video/games

Hello,

yes, been a while. And Yes i understand the process we have to go through in order to lower the temp.

Well, nonessenstial programs are already all gone, i guess? I tried the game booster 3, remember? Did not work out as we wanted it to.

So what about all the programs i installed during the process?

advance system care
speedfan
cpu z
gpu-z
hw monitor
game booster 3

which one do we still need? i like speedfan, because it gives me all the temps i need :-)

dont care too much about the rest. What do you think?

talk you tomorrow, have a great day. looking nice outside :smileytongue:

cheers

Hey,

I'd keep all of them; they don't take up any room and each one has its own awesome attributes. And if you need Support again and I'm not around, you'll already have THE BIG FOUR:

                                                 Speedfan-Cpuz-Gpu-z--HWMonitor

Why? Okay? CPUZ has built in diagnostics for the CPU; GPU-Z is likewise endowed; HWMonitor tells all of the temps, Peaks and Lows and likewise with hi/lo votage on Memory Cards and GPU; Speedfan tests the hard drive. Like I said: I'd keep all four. And I do have all four plus the Pro version of HWMonitor on all four of my computers; never gonna get caught with my pants down!

Maybe you should try out the Game Booster on ASC. Also, have you activated ACTIVE BOOST from ASC?

Re: Laptop very slow in video/games

Alright,

i will just keep them, and use them, once i need to.

Active Boost is ON. Will try the Gamebooster on ASC too.

Will also defrag my harddrive and than start a longer gaming session tomorrow with detailed temperatures and so on. Anythink you want me to do aswell, before starting my session?

;-)

thanks

Just turn down all the eyecandy and change your screen's resolution to something lower like 800X600 or thereabouts. It will make it easier on your cpu and gpu card! Less pixels to move!

Have a good one!

Oh, and hey, 'while playing?! Watching a movie will bring it up to 85C :-)'  That's not bad! Not at all bad!

Re: Laptop very slow in video/games

Alright, alright....

Looking bad again. Had a longer playing session, for about 1,5h. After this time,

the GPU was on 93C and the games started slowing down :-)

Its for sure better than in the beginning, but still not making it :smileysad:

Have you any further ideas?

thanks in advance

Hello!,

For the card that you have and how well we have tweaked it and how well it has been performing, I'm seriously impressed! And I probably could tweak it some more, but I don't have your type of Nvidia Graphic Control Panel, and I really don't want to fine tweak without hands on when it's running so good. I really think that the main issue for your laptop now comes down to prolonged heat build-up from gaming and a good stopgap Laptop Cooler to stop that build-up of heat. Not a cheapo, either! I've got a really good HP Laptop Stand/Cooler for my one serious DV7tQSE CTO. The fans on that Cooler Stand bring the temperatures down by at least 10c on a hot day and even moreso on a mild day--It's like a giant vacuum cleaner, sucking all the hot air out of my i7Beast! Okay? You need to buy a good laptop cooler with built in fans. You will see an immediate difference and will get lost in your gaming without the restraints of heat! `Hours ingame will passsssssssssss. . . .

Let me know!

Get back!

Oh, and hey, don't monitor heat anymore while playing; that also drives up CPU and GPU temperatures by up to 5c's, okay?
