Laptop won't get past Compaq product screen/ Can't do system recovery

I have a Compaq Presario CQ56 with Windows 7 system. I've had it for maybe seven months now and haven't had any problems with it til yesterday. Out of nowhere while I was just chatting to a friend online it shut itself down and restarted, it's done it once or twice before with no problems so I wasn't too concerned at first. But when it rebooted itself it showed the orange Compaq company screen went black and repeated itself. I've tried pressing ESC to bring up the startup menu to do a system recovery but it would just go back to the orange screen. I've pulled the battery but kept it plugged to see if it would work and I've also done vice versa. It's really starting to upset me because I take care of my laptop the best I can and I don't throw it around or anything. Can someone help me?

Go into the BIOS (press F10 when you see the HP splash screen on bootup) and navigate to the Diagnostics Tab, then select Memory and/or Hard Drive tests and see if either of those return an error.

mine does not get into the bios. it will write entering bios and stops there. presario cq61.

Hello!
Perform a hard reset; disconnect everything including the battery and ac adapter, press and hold the power button for 1, yes, one full minute; recconnect the ac adapter, not the battery, and reboot.
Hope this works!
If it were a rattler. . . .
