Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

Just tried doing what you suggested, and everything was going great until I got to the uploading files and then my laptop locked up and I had to turn it off.

I then tried a second time and didn't even get that far. How am I supposed to fix these problems when I cannot even complete the process?

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

Tried for a third time.....like they say "third time's a charm", but still my laptop froze when trying to run the MSDT. I have a Hp G71-445 running windows 7. Had someone work on it around end of October, and ever since I got it back...just before Thanksgiving I've been having problems with the blue screen...memory dumping, locking up and when I turn it off and then back on it tries to start up but then turns itself straight off and then tries to start up again, only to turn off again. I know the guy who worked on it updated the BIOS. It's becoming very frustrating....in fact so much so that I feel like throwing it at the wall ;(

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

HELP ME PLEASE! This is driving me crazy, and I cannot get anywhere.

I have tried 4 times to use the MSDT suggested. The first 3 times my computer locked up before the process could be completed, and just when I thought how well things were going on my 4th attempt I got the dreaded blue screen to show that it was preparing for a memory dump.

I managed to quickly write down all the letters and numbers on the blue screen but they mean nothing to me.

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

To allow us to better support you please run the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool using the steps below. The tool gathers diagnostic information useful in resolving your issue. From a computer that is connected to the internet please perform the steps below:

1. Once Windows is fully loaded, Click on the Start button 2. Type "msdt" in the "Start Search" box, then select "msdt" from the programs list
3. Please type your support key 3442000143,  when prompted and click next.
Note: This MSDT key will only work for Windows 7.
4. Follow the onscreen instructions to run the diagnostics on this computer, and upload the data to Microsoft when prompted.
5. Below is the link to the FTP site with the SW Image diagnostic tool.  Please download ImageDiags_1.7.0.0.zip from the FTP site below. Once you download it, extract ImageDiags.exe from the zip file, and execute ImageDiags.exe on your computer with admin rights.  When it completes it will create a log file named IDR_xxxxxxxxxx.log where the values x may vary based on your unit serial number.  This file will be located next to the exe name on your computer after it completes.

    FTP System:       ftp.usa.hp.com  (15.192.32.78)

            or:       ftp://image:smileyfrustrated:WDiags0@15.192.32.78/

6. Please email the log file this tool creates back to OCATeam@hp.com.

HP sincerely appreciates your business and we apologize for the inconvenience this matter may have caused.

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

I have followed the instructions and completed the Microsoft Diagnostic Support Tool, created the file, and emailed.  Does anyone have a time frame of when I might get a response??

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

Thanks for the reply, but I CANNOT run the MSDT tool completely. Like I said in the 3 posts I posted yesterday, my laptop locks up or I get the blue screen and it does a memory dump. I cannot get my laptop to behave as it should.....like stay on or not lockup.....therefore I cannot get to upload all the necessary files....so now what do I do?
