Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

There is no real point posting to this forum as no replies to help, I've found HP to be very bad at customer support, I need a new printer it's not going to be HP!

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

My Dv7-6014tx has been experiencing freezing issues, where the ATI display driver stops responding. (I think I've fixed it with the driver from Windows Update, however its too early to tell for sure)

The events log also has a LOT of error messages saying this:

"ACPI: ACPI BIOS is attempting to write to an illegal PCI Operation Region (0x4), Please contact your system vendor for technical assistance."

According to Microsoft that means the BIOS is probably obsolete, which makes sense, because when I downloaded and ran the BIOS updater from HPs website, it actually downgraded the BIOS to an older revision.

I've emailed OCATEAM@hp.com, and ran the MSDT tool. My system name is "dv7-6011tx" (I thought I had that model at first, lol)

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

New Envy 14 buzzes and blue screens on Youtube videos in IE9 and Firefox 5. Did a web support call where the tech said that both browsers had known issues. She said to uninstall IE9 and install IE8. Sadly IE8 is not supported on my Windows 7 64 bit system. Also had a blue screen at the end of the support call. (First tech said to uninstall Flash with an exe he  sent me the link to.)

Mini dump:

http://www.mediafire.com/?5rrihv4v065d4bw

Ran diags on the hd and memory (onboard and memchk86) no problems found.

All critical MS patches applied.

Video drivers are current.

I reenabled IE9 and tested it with the reinstalled Flash. Ran several YT videos no problem. Maybe it is fixed?

Re: Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

This may not be helpfull but for the last week my  Pavilion dv4-1427nr has been blue screening with several different messages, update errors, unautherized changes to windows, incomplete startups. Over and over. I have reformated several times, rolled back to vista. Seems when ever I did any updates it would start crashing. I finally had enough and reformatted it with Ubuntu. I've been running it several hours now with no problems.

Lockups and Bluescreens ? we are here to help

Well I've got this error going on with blue screens, one of them was less_or_more_equal.. something like that, it was heading the blue screen and when it rebooted I didn't get to read the rest of it. I wish I knew what was going on. Its done it before as well, different blue screens each time. Different errors, it comes and goes far in between but its worrying me. That's one issue right there.

Another issue I'm having is the ATI driver install, I tried to install it and everything goes good until I get to this point. This is what install manager's log told me. And I've talked to AMD about it and they told me to contact Mircosoft but I figured you guys would be the ones windows would redirect me to . So I came here.

Dear ,

Your service request : SR #{ticketno:[8200432712]} has been reviewed and updated.

Response and Service Request History:

The error more likely is caused by corruption with the Visual c++ program in itself. You may try un-installing all entries of the Visual C++ and re-install it, but because this is a common file this may affect other programs.

The C++ is a common program that our Catalyst Install Manager utilizes because a part of the programming language is built around it.

If the Catalyst Install Manager works correctly then the portion of the C++ is doing the job correctly.

This particular program does not directly affect the display driver.

In order to update this service request, please respond, leaving the service request reference intact.

Best regards,

AMD Global Customer Care

Error messages
Application Install: install package failure!

Thats a snap of the error log and the email they sent me. I uninstalled the C++ Redistributable 2010 10.0.40210 and reinstalled it, and still, I still get that error with the install manager. So I'm stuck going between both of these customer services. I'm probably going to reply to AMD and tell them that I tried what he told me and still no go. If you can offer any help for any of these issues that would be great.
