I have a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook, and have not been able to log in, so far everything starts up normally although it does give me the option to "Launch Startup Repair (recommended)" OR "Start windows normally" either one I choose doesn't seem to make a difference. So when it takes me to my log in screen the wallpaper appears to be zoomed and so does the cursor. It doesn't show where i can type my password, nothing, just the wallpaper and cursor, my notebook also has the option to use my fingerprint to log in but that function isn't availble anymore.
The last time I used my notebook it did need some updates, while it was updating I did not have it plugged in so I don't know if it finished in time? Please Help! I really miss my notebook!

Hello,
Have you tried doing a Hard Reset yet? If done properly the cache will be cleared. Here's how it's done: disconnect the battery from its seat, disconnect all and any peripherals--USB's and anything else connected to the laptop--press and hold the power button for at least a half minute, plug the laptop back in, but not the battery, and restart it. After this hard reset and start, do you know how to do a Windows System Scan? You know, click on and open your 'Computer Icon' in safe mode, then right click the OS (C) Icon and drop down to and click Properties, click and open up the Tools tab and click Error Checking/Check Now, then check both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, click Start. After a few seconds the computer will state that it will do this at the next restart, click Yes and then close and exit everything by clicking OK and restart your laptop and let it do the entire Windows System Scan. This vital Windows System Scan can easily take upwards of two hours and cannot- repeat- cannot be interfered with or stopped whatsoever for any reasons, okay? Once the scan is done, your laptop will restart itself.
Always be sure to BACKUP and MAKE RESTORE POINTS before doing anything.
If it were a rattler. . . .
