I have a 2 year old HP Pavilion DV4-1465dx running on Windows 7 64-bit with a battery and ac adapter less than 6 months old that freezes when I unplug it. As far as I'm aware I didn't make any changes before this started happening and it's becoming very irritating. I would really, really appreciate any advice!

I recommend that you install the latest BIOS update that is available in the support portal for your notebook.
Please post your results here.

OK.
1) Run the defragmentation program that is part of Windows
2) go to a command line prompt and type sfc /scannow and then let the system file checker run. SFC is the Windows built in system file checker. It will inspect and replace any system file that it deems corrupt. It could be an ACPI file issue.

I followed your steps and it didn't solve the problem but seemed to slow down the freezing process. Instead of being completely frozen in a few seconds it took a little while longer.

Do you know how to refresh ( by resizing) your virtual memory file?

I did the first test, but I don't know how to do the second you advised. I would be happy to do it with some instruction. Thanks so much for the help by the way. I really appreciate it.

HI,
OK.
Select Custom size and in the Initial and minumum boxes, place the paging file size that you see in Recommended in the bottom left. Now select the Set button and then OK. Your PC will require a reset. What you have done is refreshed the Paging file that your operating system uses. Sometimes that file becomes corrupt and causes the problems that you werehaving.
