My laptop shuts off after being locked

Hi, I'm not sure if I'm asking this at the right place but I've been having various problems with my hp g60. I recently reformatted my laptop and it has been working fine but the only problem that I actually have is that typically I lock my laptop when I know I'm going to come back on it later. Ever since I reformatted my laptop, it shuts off a couple hours after I've left my laptop on lock. I understand that it would shut off if it so happens to run out of battery, but that's not the case. I lock it, come back to my laptop being shut down, push the power button, and the "resuming windows" screen pops up. I was wondering if anyone would know why my laptop does this and how I could fix it. Thanks
