My netbook is no longer booting properly video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZt-8JLRT2s
In the video the computer boots to a screen showing some options for drive select with function keys. At this point the computer is absolutly unresponsive to any function keys or control-alt-delete.
I've tried to perform hard reset with out battery or AC adapter without effect.
Any suggestions as what I can do or service options with HP?

It looks like a hard drive problem. Remove the hard drive and turn on the laptop. If you can get the BIOS it's definitely a faulty hard drive...

BIOS will not boot with out a hard drive. Actually, I moved my hard drive to a different computer where everything worked as expected.
Another strange complication to this scenario is that sometimes (rarely) the computer boots completely normally then during reboot the same condition in the video reoccurs.

Ok, I thought that you can't boot up at all. I would do some hard drive maintenance like a check disk, defrag etc.. Then update the BIOS if possible. I would also check the hard drive for bad sectors..

I've replaced my hard drive with my friends hard drive, which operates perfectly in her computer, in to this machine. Again the same condition where I cannot get past the BIOS screen and no keys are responsive.
I'm looking for a fail-safe way to enter the BIOS configuration menu. I suspect a hardware issue and I've replaced the BIOS battery and reseated the memory and hard drive.
Any suggestions?

This is a quite serious problem and it could be even a buggy BIOS. I would contact HP and explain it to them. This case might be qualified for a replacement or repair..

I just called in and explained the problem. When I finally got to the supervisor to get an estimated repair cost for replacing the motherboard, I got a really good laugh!!
$240 estimated repair cost for $180 computer, no wonder this machine was so cheap on black friday
