Pavilion DV4 no longer booting

The laptop was getting bluescreens consistently for the last 3 weeks with some message about the Bios cache. The laptop only has one little fan vent so I blew that out and everywhere else thinking it was running hot. Then the other day it just stopped booting up. The screen went black and I tried the hard reset and keeping the lid half-way up etc. but no luck. At this point it powers on but then goes no where, I can't even access the bios via f8 or get into safemode. The lights come on and the caps and scroll lock blink but that's it. My guess is motherboard is fried but any other advice?

Re: Pavilion DV4 no longer booting

Count the blinks. they are an error code and will repeat. I will post the error codes here shortly.

Re: Pavilion DV4 no longer booting

So it looks like it is only one blink which means the CPU is not functioning. Does this mean the cpu is just dead and has to be replaced or is there a way to solve otherwise?

Re: Pavilion DV4 no longer booting

Try a hard reset as follows:

1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button

Please post your positive or negative results here in your thread.

Yea I said I tried that in my first post. Many times. What else can the error blinks tell me?

Re: Pavilion DV4 no longer booting

Here is a lnk to a document on HP Computer blink codes.

CPU failure is quite rare. Is your notebook still in warranty?

What is the complete product number so I can check for recall information?

Remove the battery and look in the compartment where the battery was installed. You should see a printed part number and a product name. Please post one or both of them (with all alphanumeric characters here). Post the country of purchase.
