Hi,

so my HP Pavilion dv7 1003eo laptop refuses to boot. When I power it on, all the light light up and I hear the usual fan noise but the screen remains black.

I removed the charger and the battery and pressed the power button a couple of times (and held it for about 30 seconds). Unfortunately that didn't help.

I also tried replacing the RAM modules but I still got greeted by the same black screen.

Is there anything else I could do or should I just accept the fact that the laptop is dead?

I think you blew up your laptop Gpu or Cpu.

Becouse there's no screen.

You can try removing the battery and press 10 times on the power button.

Then leave it for a hour.

Do you still have warranty?

Winos.

Hello Msonata

Usally it is the ram. Did you put in one and test, another and test.  So not swapping?

It can be that one slot is broken.

Here's what I tried (the laptop has two RAM slots):

I installed only a single stick and tested. Nothing changed. I inserted the same stick in the other slot and tested again. It still wouldn't boot.

I repeated the above test with four different RAM modules but the problem still persists.

Every touch button (volume controls, wifi... etc.) lights up and caps lock and num lock light occasionally blink.

There are also three leds in front of the laptop (power, charging, HDD) but only the power one lights up.

And no, there is no beeping sound.

Using an external monitor didn't help.

One of these codes:

I guess those codes don't affect my laptop because it is an older model.
Also, the caps lock and num lock lights don't blink in a sequence and stop; instead, they keep on blinking until I shut the PC down.

Sadly that didn't work either and unfortunately the warranty has already expired.
When it comes to repairs, as far as I know, it is cheaper to buy a new laptop instead of getting the old one repaired.

I guess I should start rescuing data from my HDD.

Thanks for your responses though; they have been very helpful!
