Pavilion zv6000 beeps continually on start-up

Pavilion zv6000

Windows XP Pro

 

I just bought this unit so I don't don't know what the circumstances were before I got it. I am trying to reload Windows.

Start-up seems normal until after about 5-6 seconds and then I get continous beeping. I have to press F9 several times to get it to stop.

 

The laptop needs a new keyboard so I haven't ruled out a sticking key, but the beeping occurs only at start-up. I removed the memory and reset it, but that didn't help.

 

Any thoughts on how to proceed?
