Pavillion DV5 Won't Start

I have read the previous post that had a no start issue and tried to remedy my situation using the fixes to no avail.  My problem occured when I had the laptop in defrag mode and the comp as expected went into the usual sleep mode after sometime of no use.  I came back and pressed the space bar to get the comp running again but all I heard was the harddrive working but nothing else on screen.  After sometime about 3 mins of this i tried other keys to no avail.  Well my only recourse after that was to manually turn it off.  Since then the keyboard lights up and the cap lock & num lock keys light up once every 5 secs or so (one simultaneous flash per every 5 secs).  Any suggestions as to a solution?

Well if I reading the symptoms correctly, its the CPU that is not functional.  Would a reboot  with a recovery disc be advisable?  I never made one (I can hear the the critism now) so would it be advisable to get one and try it or is this the death of the laptop?

    Re: Pavillion DV5 Won't Start

I am having the same issue with my dv5 so I took it in to a repair shop. He told me possibly the CPU or motherboard. He has been recently flooded with dv4 and dv5 laptops with the same blink code problem. He didn't take it cause he had too many and reccommended I buy anything but hp. I think hp needs a class action law suit. I have 2 dv5's and both crashed back to back? If anyone know the real fix, please reply.

    Hi People,

I discovered the problem, probably they put another operating system, and bios of the pc was not prepared for him, what I did was change my rigid by a physician with another operating system prior to that had started to install, then I updated the bios, to a newer version, ai put the source disk and could solve the problem of the boot.
