Re: Problem with touchpad brand new Pavilion dm4-2015dx

AGH!  I had to do the remove-battery thing to get my mouse to do anything accurate after trying to disable it (rebooting alone didn't help).  Until then, lots of fiddling with alt-tab.

I have it on ps/2 drivers, will report back if this keeps it from dying.

It is, however, a noticeably crappier touch pad when on this mode - i wouldn't categorize the losses in function as "bells and whistles".

there is another thread on this issue that says that it is solved. Essentially this is a ALPS 7.206.1717.117 device and they have the wrong synaptic driver installed. however, the Alps driver has all the functions except the double tap feature. BUT SERIOUSLY HP! I just bought this laptop why out of the box do I have to fix it? get this whole thing solved {Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted}

{Content Removed} Whew.  Do you have a link to the other thread?  I'm not finding it offhand.

Re: Problem with touchpad brand new Pavilion dm4-2015dx

Jaizkibel,

There is a fix for touchpad problems on the dm4-2xxx models.  Install both the updated BIOS and the ALPS driver:

Alps Touchpad Driver 7.206.1717.117 sp52422.exe

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)  F.04  sp53126.exe

Let us know if this works.

Seems like the touchpad driver update worked for me.

Re: Problem with touchpad brand new Pavilion dm4-2015dx

I have a HP DM4 2033cl, yesterday the cursor freezed and nothing could bring it back alive, i follow your advice and disabled the two Microsoft Vitrual WiFi Miniport Adapter and now the touchpad is working again, thank you very much for the tip.... i was ready to return my computer...

one question, how does the disabling of the Microsoft Vitrual WiFi Miniport Adapter affect the general performance / services of the machine?

Re: Problem with touchpad brand new Pavilion dm4-2080us

I bought a new computer because my old one kept locking up, and the only solution was a reboot.  Needless to say, I am very unhappy that the new computer touchpad locks up.

Other posts suggest a reboot, which will work, but is a bad idea.  Before I download the updates you kindly suggested .... Are these downloads correct for the dm4-1080?

Also, is there any way to set up this computer to search for automatic HP updates and/or fixes?  And if so, how/where do I find them?  Thanks a BUNCH!
