Random Log Off

While working on my Pavilion dv7 with no warning a finger pointing to the power button shows up on my screen with a red line through it.   My cursor then freezes and I can't do anything until I push the power button and get my password screen to come on.  Then it works fine until it does it the next time which may be a matter of minutes, hours or days.  It's very random and does it without warning.   Any advice would be appreciated!!
