Re: HP G62-340US Notebook BLUE SCREEN

I purchased this computer in October 2010.  The first day I installed Firefox, avg, ccleaner, zonelab, google crome and the blue screen came up the first day.  I called tech support and they had me to do a complete reinstall of windows 7.   A day or 2 later I made a back up image of the computer so I wouldn't have to do a complete reinstall.  After about 4 weeks, the blue screen came back.  I went reverted back to the back up image to finally it was to the point of having to reinstall windows.

January 10, 2011 I contacted HP.  I ran all the bios tests possible. Nothing wrong. The computer will run 5 to 30 minutes then crash. I sent the computer in to HP tech center.  They just reinstall windows.  I receive the computer back and after having it 2 days, the blue screen comes back. I contact HP support again and ship the computer off. I get it back 2 days ago and it is on 5 minutes and the blue screen comes back.  I contact support and I am shipping the computer off again.

How many times must I ship this computer that to the  technicians can't seem to fix it?  What part of run a diagnostics testing is so difficult?  They can't tell me what is wrong, they just do what I did and what happens, nothing is fixed.  AT this rate, HP will be out hundreds if not thousands on me shipping it to them FED EX 2nd day air   each time it is sent to  be repaired.  They ship me a box, I return the computer to them, they return it to me.  2nd day air paid by HP 3 times for each time it is sent to Tennessee.

I have begun to wonder if I will be stuck in this revolving door of HP while I have lost a month without being able to use this computer and HP spends hundreds of dollars.  I am wondering if this will go on til they spend in the thousands having me to ship the computer out to not be repaired and repeat the cycle.

HP it is your money you are wasting.  SInce you are wasting my time, it seems fair that you spend hundreds of dollars to have people either that can't fix anything or else they are instructed to just reinstall windows and just ship the computer back without ever fixing anything.

Re: HP G62-340US Notebook BLUE SCREEN

BIOS Diags passed so that rules out memory and hard drive, OS re-installed multiple times (from your image and a fresh install) so my guess is a system board, if it is hardware related. Do you know if that has been replaced in the past?

Re: HP G62-340US Notebook BLUE SCREEN

This computer was purchased new.  If anything is damaged or fried, it came from the factory that way.  The first day I used the computer, it crashed with the blue screen.  I had to do a complete reinstall of windows.  I am not sure what is being done at the HP repair center.  The technician I talked to on the phone said that they just reinstall windows and ship the computers back out.  Unless someone actually looks at it and sees what is going on, this computer will never be repaired .  I explained repeatedly that this is a defective computer and just reinstalling windows will not fix this problem. If it had fixed it, it would not have crashed anymore after I reinstalled windows the first time.

I am wondering how many times will I have to ship this computer back to HP before they say wait a minute, this computer keeps coming back over and over and we have spent more on FED EX 2nd day air charges than what this computer sold for in the stores.  As the old saying goes, they can't see the forest for the trees.

Re: HP G62-340US Notebook BLUE SCREEN

I've had nearly the exact same issues as the author of this thread. I bought mine at the end of October, and 5 months in I started getting flashed by the blue screen. It became more frequent about 2 months ago. I finally contact HP support and they told me eventually to do a factory reset. I backed up my files, did this (after all the diagnostics came back clean) and it STILL does this. It just started a few days ago and it's becoming more frequent again. Instead of flashing the blue screen before I can read it, it shows me that "possibly new hardware/software" is conflicting. I'm very computer savvy and even when I have nothing hooked up, and no new software that conflicted in the past, I'm completely stumped. It -did- stop randomly rebooting when I deleted the ghost files for idiotic Norton antivirus, but now it's doing it again.  For awhile I thought it was when I installed Rainmeter (desktop customizer/organizer) but in the past it never messed me up, and it's virtually absured that it would conflict.

Bottom line, my laptop shouldn't have these problems. My mom's HP desktop has already done this, and she had to go out and buy a new one because we couldn't access the hard drive. What I find more retarded is that HP wouldn't let us call them and be walked through some diagnostics simply because she wasn't under warrenty, when we know that all the operator does is read from a manual. I'm really getting sick of HP and I miss my old Dell laptop. Even at 4 years old it was fine until the hard drive crashed. I just blame that on it being over worked by me; it was a great laptop.

Re: HP G62-340US Notebook BLUE SCREEN

Unfortunately, G62 freezing is a terribly common problem for many, and a simple BIOS update or other fix often is at best temporary or of limited help. In fact, HP Support has rolled back the BIOS in an attempt to fix the problem.

Is HP going to fix the problem? Literally, it would be nice if we could all get on the same page on this one:

    Good luck!

    @djmeznyc

    Hi,
For sure it will be good to test RAM and HDD first.
In below guide you will find all informations how you may do this:
How to test RAM and HDD (Hard Drive).

    Ps.

I do not recommend built-in Bios test tools.

It will me much more better if you will do this with 3rd party tools which are recommended by me in above guide.
