Slower since HP downloads

HP 2000-299 Notebook PC

I have had this pc for almost a month now.Last night a HP popup said there was very important downloads that needed to be installed.I am not very computer literate but know enough to stay afloat.I downloaded the updates,which took a couple hours.I got tired of waiting and went to bed.I woke up this am and the downloads were complete but needed to be installed.After the install it restarted.Ever since the updates my pc is slower then a snail.It was very fast before but now it freezes up sometimes and I have to restart  it often.HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
