Hi.
I just received my HP Pavilion dv6t-3000 laptop yesterday. It worked perfectly fine, except the fact that I did not like all of the preloaded software on the hard drive, and decided to format everything using the HP System Recovery discs that I bought via HP. I put the disc in, booted it up. It formatted the Windows partition, copied all of the necessary files, and started to rebuild everything.
This is where the problem happens: everything is going smoothly, until the indicator hits 12%. It doesn't move anywhere else, and it is stuck indefinitely at 12%. I figured that it was simply installing something major, so I let it work overnight again. Again, it's stuck at 12%. I powered off the computer and tried again, but only to find the same error. I've scoured the internet, and I haven't found anything concrete to help.
Help, please? ![]()

See, that's what I thought, but the discs are the original ones that I bought from HP; I didn't create them myself. If it isn't a problem with the Recovery Manager software on the discs, then would it be a hardware problem, like a partitioning error?

From this what I remember you've got 21 days to return this laptop (please check this information when You will be contacting with HP because I'm not sure of it). So for now You may get this recovery disk and try to use it. If You will have this problem again You will just return this model.
One thing which You need to know. If You will run HP recovery disk You will reinstall all pre-installed software and drivers which You had from the beginning on this machine. So all this software which You were trying to get rid of the system will be reinstalled again.
To achieve what you want You may only uninstall this software manullay from system. Naturally You may buy/use retail copy of Windows and install fresh system without any add-ons.

Yeah, I ordered and received the new recovery discs, and I experienced the same problem as last time. I guess I'll just send in my laptop to get it repaired or something. Thanks for the help, though. ![]()

Hi,
Can anyone else help with this? First the hard drive died on this laptop (I've spent the last week recovering pictures using a 3rd party tool as the HD is TOAST. I ordered new recovery cd's (since I cant use the built in ones from the Hard drive), and now I cant get past 36% on the restore and the laptop keeps shutting down on me randomly (whether I have the battery in or running on ac power with no battery).
HELP!!!!
