Re: System Recovery Freeze

When I first read your post I thought you meant creating system recovery disks from the recovery partition. Then I read it again . I now have a system image of my drive Thanks for all of your help.

Re: System Recovery Freeze

Hi,

Tap away at f10 as soon as you press the power button to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on the Hard Drive and Memory.  Run both tests and post back with the results.

Re: System Recovery Freeze

Hi,

Has it never got past 12% before freezing?

What's the longest you've left it at this stage?

Re: System Recovery Freeze

Hi,

Are you trying to reinstall the OS at the moment?

Do you have access to a retail Windows 7 disc just to test whether this will install?

Re: System Recovery Freeze

I had a similar problem once with an HP PC.  I finally realized that the recovery was not really reformatting the hard drive before reinstalling the OS.  I had to get an outside program called Killdisk to reformat the hard drive clean and then restore.  What I realized when I did Killdisk was that the restore had gotten far enough to create the partition and so the OS was trying to load onto the small partition and could not go further.  This may not be your issue but starting with a clean slate would not hurt.

Re: System Recovery Freeze

not doing a recovery now just got computer back today ,plan to use it for a wile .Need to call my case manager Monday to listen to her excuses.

I might be able to borrow Win7 software.Tried to install win xp got disks for that no luck.

Re: System Recovery Freeze

Hi,

It's possible that if you've used Killdisk to completely wipe the HDD, the following solution may apply.
