Touch pad problems

Its it me or my touch pad? I never use the Left clicker to click on links, I just double tap. Lately when I do double tap the pointer moves to the right of the screen or it clicks on a link that I never intented to click on or highlights everything. its so annoying. Help!

Hi,

 

Can you post back with the following.

 

1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.

 

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Hi,

 

What I need is your notebooks Model No. ( for example dv7-4180ea ) or the Product No. ( this will look something like FT161EA ).

 

Another way to locate this is as follows.

 

Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. You should see both your Model No. and Product No. on the first page.

 

I also need to know the version of Windows you have ie XP, Vista or Windows 7.

well as far as the model number it says.... Notebook Model- HP 2000 Notebook PC

Product Number- QE28UA#ABA and its a windows7. I hope this helps.

Is the definitely not another number in the Product code QE28UA? - ignore anything after the #.

yep thats the what I got when I shutdown the laptop and hit F10. I also looked on the box that it came in and it was the same product number.

Hi,

 

That's fine :smileyhappy:

 

First, download the latest Synaptics driver installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

 

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54983.exe

 

Next, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features, right click the entry 'Synaptics Pointing Device Driver' and select Uninstall.

 

When this has completed, restart the notebook.

 

When windows has fully reloaded, open your Downloads folder, right click the Synaptics installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, restart the notebook again.
