What can I do stop everything from crashing? What to do to stop the lockups, freezes, and hangs?

My info is- HP Compaq Presario CQ57, Windows 7 32-64bits, The one message I get is that Foxfire, Chrome, and Internet Explorer has crashed.  I had tried reloading them all, that does not work, I've ran  "Fix It" that has not worked
