Windows 7 Reinstallation Hangs

i  have the same problem with my laptop. ordered disks and purched a new hard drive. put new hard drive in and started to do the recovery disks then the recovery gets stuck on the first disk at 35%. with copy file fails from d:\prelaod\base 16.wim to : c:\rm\image\base 16.wim. have done every thing that u said to the other person but still having no luck please help . thanks

I am having the same trouble.  Tried on the original hard drive and couldn't reinstall windows.  Bought a new hard drive, and I keep getting the error message:

Copy File Fails

From D:\ PRELOAD\BASE.WIM

To: C:\RM\Image\BASE.WIM

Is there any way to manually copy this file by taking the hard drive out and connecting it to another laptop?  I have been trying to fix for two weeks with no luck.  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

I purchased and installed a new hard drive on my pavilion dv7. I'm having an error after installing the 3rd (last) recovery disk. It's stuck on Progress: 98%, 0 minutes remaining then getting error "Reducer Copy File Fails From: E:\PRELOAD\BASE15.WIM To: C:\RM\Image\BASE15.WIM. When I try to start it, it says BOOTMGR missing. Why isn't it setting it up to manufacturers original set up? I don't know how to burn to CD either.

I have this same exact error on my dv7.

98% and this (last?) file, base15.wim, does not copy.

Reboot and I get the BOOTMGR missing message.

Is this indicative of a hardware failure at this point?

Pretty disappointing that I have spent so much time trying to fix a 15 month old laptop.

Has anyone found a way around this last 2%?

I'm having trouble with my G62 225DX Notebook. I recently bought a new hard drive and recovery discs and I get the message Fail to create F:\SDV.FLG and then Copy File Fails From:\PRELOAD\BASE.WIM To: C:\RM\Image\BASE.WIM. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

I am having this same issue.  Has anyone found a solution?  I received my OEM install disks (1, 2 and 3 of 3 and the extra disk) from HP.  First disk is going along fine and 2nd disk gets to 70% and fails every time with base19.swm cannot copy error. I used several utilities to write zeroes to the hard drive and format it completely.  Oh this is irritating me so bad.  My Pavillion is useless.  I have a legal valid Win 7 key. why doesn't MS make an iso available for download so I can install it? Is my HP install disk corrupt?  What is the deal?  I am going to be forces to use Ubuntu and I don't want to.  I also recently received an Win 8 upgrade for Christmas but I can't install that without Win 7 and can't get Win 7 installed.... WOW!  With XP I used to wipe my HD once every 6 months.  I have large network drives I save all my personal files on so I never have to worry about losing personal files.  I just reinstall the OS and the apps I use and I am good to go.  I surely cannot do this with Win 7.

Same problem for me. My model is HP Pavilion g6 1216ER, read all forums tried sp44645.exe , no luck. At restore it hangs at 36% and says that cannot copy to c the file Base19.swm. Please help!
