blank screen on boot - compaq presario cq62-a10sa

Hi all,

 

I have a compaq presario cq62-a10sa which is not booting.

 

On powering I get a blank screen, the fan starting and the f12 led on constant (as well as the power light on constant). I get the same when i start via battery and AC adaptor (both with and without the battery connected).

 

There are no other capslock/numlock/etc leds that come on at any point.

 

Any ideas what error the constant f12 led signifies?

 

I've tried the hard reset, removing disk, memory modules, connecting external monitor. Tried all the function keys, esc key, fn + function keys immediately after startup too.

 

Any ideas?
