compaq presario v6000 cycles on boot no lights blink.

This is a Presario V6000 Laptop. When you push the power botton it may boot normally or it will cycle. (power lights come on, HD and DVD cycle, nothing on the screen and then the power lights go off and come back on) (no lights blink aka cap lock) this may happen several times or only a few times and then the coputer may come on normally. Power supply is good. HD is OK, I have formated the HD and installed a fresh version of Win7 and it works ok. (It was doing this before upgrading to win7) I thought the upgrade from Vista to Win7 would help. It seemed to a little but not enough to call it stable. BIO's has been up dated. I have heard that this model had a mother board problem. No sure.
