dv2810us no longer starts

Last week the computer started to shut itself off randomly.

Now it won't start at all.

I am out of warranty, but other than buy a new computer do I have any repair options?

Also it used to over-heat terribly, could this has fried something internally?

Re: dv2810us no longer starts

Hello,

Don't give up! Have you tried a hard reset, where you disconnect everything including removing the battery and the plug and then hold down the power button for a full 45 seconds to clear the cache? After this, you plug the laptop back in, but not the battery, and restart it. If the laptop does start after this, you should immediately shut it down and goto a BigBox or Computer Store and pickup a can of compressed air to clean its bottom and side vents, especially if the laptop has never been cleaned, okay? This could be why the laptop was getting so hot; laptop's need cleaned of dust and debris on a yearly basis to lengthen their lives and help them maintain a decent performance level. CPUs and GPUs hate dust and get really hot like wearing a fur coat in summer when some gets on them. Oh, and don't worry about the laptop's fan, air can't harm it, okay?
