I ran an update on my laptop and after it restarted, it wouldn't get past the windows screen. I ran all the tests and got this:
Start up test:
Short DST: failed
Failure ID: RPL38X-5865R3-9XLU2K-60T203
Product ID: XH103UAR#ABA
hard disk 1
HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC
System ID: 1442
Run in test:
Short DST: failed
Failure ID: RPL38X-5865R3-9XLU2K-60T203
Product ID: XH103UAR#ABA
Hard Disk:
Short DST: failed
Failure ID: RPL38X-5865R3-9XLU2K-60T203
Product ID: XH103UAR#ABA
Memory Test:
Passed
Battery Test:
Passed
What happened? And how do I fix this?

Hi,
The errors indicate that your Hard Drive has failed - the only solution to this is to replace the drive.
If your notebook is under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the Hard Drive replaced.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing this yourself, please let me know.
Regards,
DP-K

@shedevil0223
Hdds fail and laptop hdds fail faster than desktop drives due to heat.HP does not make the hdd, they use Toshiba, Seagate, etc. You can replace the hdd with a retail hdd from a local store or online store such as Newegg or Tigerdirect at much less $.
