g60-445dx not booting no wireless power

The computer does not boot fully - goes through the initial HP screen then remains with the blinking cursor in the upper left corner.  I tried the recover CD which I purchased from HP but it stops and I receive an error 100a message.  The wireless button remains red.  HP told me the manufacturer recovery cd should turn the wireless button on to allow the recovery which did not happen. I also disconnected the power leads to the wireless device and rebooted hoping it was just hung-up but it did not solve the problem. Any assistance on this problem is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried going into the BIOS (F10 at bootup) and then navigating to the diagnostics tab and testing the hard drive for errors? (that is if it even sees the hard drive)

I tried to run the hard drive diagnostics test but to the right of  the estimated time it states "Diagnostics not supp" and the % Complete stays at 0.  The fan does run however.  Is it the hard drive or the Bios and if Bios, how would I reinstall it from the recovery discs? 

The computer also freezes at the diagnostics screen and I have to power it off.

I also just went to the Diagnostics Log and found 9 instances of a failure on January 19, 2011 at 19:15 resukt #10008-Fail

Okay now it is getting stranger.  I ran the memory test and it passed.  I then tried to run the Hard Drive test and this time it worked with the result of #10000 - Pass.  I then tried to restart the computer and it stays on teh black screen with the blinking cursor in the upper left corner with no wireless connection.  While I was typing this message the laptop just shutdown on its own while the diagnostics menu was up. It did this when I walked away during the hard drive test but I thought it did it automatically.  I do have the battery removed and teh AC power cord in it.  Thanks and sorry for the multiple posts.
